Baños and the waterfall route

Day 6-9 (09.-12.11.22):

After two nights in Riobamba we took a bus to Baños. A more touristic place to do a bicycle trip: The ruta de cascadas (waterfall route). The village itself is located in a canyon between glowing green mountains with quite a spectacular view.

Being there off season, it was not too touristic and even though we saw French, Germans and US-Americans, there were also a lot of Ecuadorian tourists around.

We kept activities low as Astrid was still recovering form stomach issues.

The biking trip was mostly on-road and downwards, so not very demanding. We hoped the route would take us more off-road but most part of the route was on the main road. However, we enjoyed the quite nice scenery, especially at the end at the Pailón del Diablo waterfall in Rio Verde where we got wet exploring also the part behind the waterfall :-)

I was so eager to test my drone for the first time in Ecuador, but having a lot of electricity cables and zip lines all over the canyons in combination with strong winds, I was just too afraid this would be the first and last time to use it.

Nevertheless we had fun and took some great photos.
